Here is all you need to know about Shellharbour City’s waste services over the festive season.

No Xmas Day Bin Collections
A friendly reminder to all residents that our garbage collection trucks will be taking a break on Christmas day.
Please place your bins on the kerb for your normal bin day & we’ll come by to collect them either that day or the next.  
If it’s not collected on its usual day, rest assured, we’re on our way! 

Extra recycling collection for all residents!
All residents will receive an extra recycling collection between 26 December and 5 January 2024 (inclusive).
Make sure you put your recycling bin out during this period!

Bulk kerbside collections and irregular services
Bulk kerbside collections and irregular services are temporarily unavailable from Friday 22 December to Wednesday 3 January 2024. Bookings reopen Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Dunmore Depot
Dunmore Depot is open over the festive season (except Christmas Day)

If you are planning a clear out or to drop off unwanted Christmas presents, stop off at Reviva Dunmore and offer your goods for donation. Check out the full list of accepted items here.

Tips & tricks for a more sustainable Christmas!

  • Use paper wrapping paper that can be easily reused or recycled
  • Avoid buying products with lots of packaging
  • Plan your meals, buy what you need and put all food scraps in your FOGO bin
  • Recycle cardboard boxes in your yellow lid recycle bin or drop off at the tip for free
  • Take your Christmas recyclables to the Dunmore Depot for free! Christmas recycling can include:
    • Aluminium disposable baking trays
    • Cardboard, paper wrapping and cards
    • Glass bottles, jars and aluminium cans
    • Cardboard food and drink packaging

FOGO
Remember to put your meat and bones, seafood and real Christmas trees into your FOGO bin! We’ll then turn it into compost and mulch at Shellharbour’s own processing facility. For more information on your FOGO bin, click here.
