Application process for disposal of asbestos sheeting

Shellharbour City Council provide a service for disposal of asbestos sheeting for residents of the Shellharbour and Kiama Local Government Areas (LGAs). Applications must be lodged through Shellharbour City Council and approved prior to starting any renovations or repairs. Once you application has been received by Council, a Council Supervisor will contact you directly to organise an inspection.

(Only applicable to asbestos waste more than 100kg or asbestos sheeting more than 10m2)

If you have more than 100kgs of asbestos waste or more than 10m2 of asbestos sheeting, you are required to report it online via the NSW EPA’s WasteLocate. WasteLocate tracks your load of asbestos from pick up to disposal using the GPS in your smart device. It generates a unique consignment number just like a parcel in the post.
