Application process for disposal of asbestos sheeting
Shellharbour City Council provide a service for disposal of asbestos sheeting for residents of the Shellharbour and Kiama Local Government Areas (LGAs). Applications must be lodged through Shellharbour City Council and approved prior to starting any renovations or repairs. Once you application has been received by Council, a Council Supervisor will contact you directly to organise an inspection.
Important note
Contractors and businesses are not permitted to dispose of asbestos at the Dunmore Recycling & Waste Disposal Depot (DRWDD). This service is for household-generated
asbestos only.
Council will only accept up to 100kg or 10 square metres of bonded (non‑friable) asbestos from a residential property. Friable asbestos is not accepted under any circumstances.
Removal of quantities greater than 100kg or 10 square metres must be carried out by a licensed Class A or Class B asbestos removal contractor, in accordance with NSW legislation.
